About Us
Over some time, different section of the Sikh and Punjabi community in Adelaide have been feeling the need for a purpose-built building for a Gurudwara Sahib with ample on-site parking. While some felt that we should have the traditional Sarai or resting facilities, others felt a greater need for facilities for the elderly, disadvantaged and needy.
A group of nine humble men committed to take up this cause and embarked on the mission to create a purpose-built Gurudwara Sahib building. They consulted widely with the Sangat and thus the vision for a new Gurudwara Sahib was articulated by forming United Sikhs of South Australia—an incorporated Association in the state of South Australia and a registered Not for Profit body. Approvals are under way to register the body with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
The first stage of this process has been put in motion with acquisition of land. A five acre block of land is being secured on Port Wakefield Road, Salisbury. This block has a service road lane, which will make it safer to enter and leave the building.
We are requesting all to kindly and humbly join us in this great holy endeavor. We are seeking your involvement through all means that suit you—financial contributions, moral support, brotherly help, friendly advice and suggestions.
Our immediate goal is to pay for the land. The land cost is nearly A$700,000. And while every dollar and cent counts, we are constrained by the time we have on hand to settle the land by. We need to pay for the land in full by 15th November, 2015. So, we appeal to your generosity and magnanimity in donating funds.
